That’s why Thermarest is by far the king of ultralight sleeping pads. Flat valves are so much easier to use, but is it worth carrying a slightly heavier pad? It depends on if you’re trying to get into an ultralight/lightweight setup. The lightest ultralight sleeping pads will almost use a twist lock valve to cut 2-3 oz off the overall weight. I personally prefer flat valves, but they’re a little bit heavier than twist lock pads. It 2-3 large puffs of air to fill up your pad with air so there’s no need for a separate mechanical/sack pump. Speed Valves: Thermarest created a speed valve that uses a wide opening (about 12 inches wide) to blow surrounding air into the pad. They have a three layer design that allows you to rapidly inflate and deflate the sleeping pad (I’ll Explain More Below. Flat Valves: Flat valves are a promising update that aims to fix all of the problems with twist lock valves.Twist Lock Valves: This is the classic valve style that uses tiny black cylinders at the end of the mat that you push in, twist, and pull out to inflate/deflate the pad.So lets explain the difference between each type of valve. You might see slight variations on the different valves, but they all use similar designs. There are three different types of sleeping pad valves: twist lock valves, flat valves and speed valves (Thermarest Pads). Air Can Only Flow One Way With A Flat Valve.Consider Buying A Valve Attachment To Use Any Pump.Twist Lock Sleeping Pad Valves (aka Twist and Pull Valves). If there was a clear winner you wouldn’t see different valve types so the choice is up to you. In the rest of this post I’ll go over the different valve styles and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each type of valve. Do you want the time tested design of a twist lock valve, or a low profile flat valve that’s faster to fill up? Speed valves allow you to get around most of the issues with twist lock valves, but are they worth the extra price? The type of valve you choose will be a matter of personal preference. Exped created flat valves to solve both of those problems and multiple manufacturers have integrated the flat valve design into their pads. Twist lock valves work great, but they have a slow flow rate and you can’t use an external pump. Thermarest invented the twist and pull style valve in the early 70s and most companies still use a similar style today. There are advantages and disadvantages to each valve style, but what type of valve is best? The old style twist lock valves are being replaced by flat valves and Theremarest even has a speed valve that works like a roll top bag. Inflatable sleeping pads haven’t changed much over the past couple of decades, but valve styles have changed over the years. The Books interface is annoying,īut it’s not like you’d be spending all that much time with it. There’s no reason why you can’t have any number of reader appsĪvailable, including Books even if the only thing you ever put into it IPad models compatible with iPadOS 15.4 - Apple Support I wish they had a lot more screenshots though. The online documentation is fine too, and has a nice feature of being able to select which version you’re looking at (13-15 currently). Having the split keyboard slightly above the bottom of the screen certainly isn’t a show stopper but I’d prefer to have it in the position where I have become accustomed to it being. I haven’t been able to get it back there yet but will continue trying when time permits and let you know if I find any reliable method to accomplish it. Today when I tried your suggestion the bottom of the split keyboard was at the bottom of the screen when I started. Yesterday when I started exploring the situation the split keyboard was docked with the bottom of the keyboard at the very bottom of the screen, as it had been for quite a while. I prefer to dock the split keyboard with the bottom of the split keyboard at the very bottom of the screen. Docking the full keyboard with the bottom of the keyboard at the bottom of the screen then selecting split with the mini keyboard leaves the bottom of the split keyboard about 1 inch above the bottom of the screen in landscape view and about 1 and 1/4 inches above the bottom of the screen in portrait view on my iPad. I used to be able to do that using the procedure I described in the post. What I can’t seem to make happen is for the split keyboard to dock at the very bottom of the screen. I’m not sure when the change happened as I’ve had my keyboard split and docked through several iOS changes and had not undocked it until today.ĭennis, Thanks for the suggestion. So, yes, it seems something has changed about docking the split keyboard. I hesitate to undock the split keyboard again now that it’s finally back where I like it. The split keyboard now has remained in the docked position through app changes. I had tried unsuccessfully several times before that procedure worked. Finally I was able to get the split keyboard back to the docked position by starting with the floating keyboard and doing a split and drag procedure. That procedure no longer worked for me, the split keyboard always ended up well above the docked position. I previously was able to split and dock the keyboard using my thumbs to split the regular keyboard as I dragged down to the docked position. I started experimenting and then could not get the split keyboard to go back to the docked position. When I read your inquiry I checked and the split keyboard was docked on my iPad. Calion, I’m using iOS 15.2.1 on an iPad (6th generation). For example, trimming your cheeks and sideburns shorter can accentuate your jawline. Experiment with Lengths: While a consistent length is fine, varying guard lengths can add flair to shorter beards.Aim for symmetry – take your time to ensure both sides mirror each other. Use your face’s natural lines as a guide. Begin Beneath: Initiate the trim from under your chin, moving upwards. You’ll know it’s on right when you hear a distinct ‘click’. Secure the Guard: If your guard is the snap-on type, ensure it’s firmly attached.Remember, it’s always simpler to trim more later than to wait for an over-trimmed patch to grow back. If you’re new to this, it’s wise to start with a longer guard. Pick Your Tool: Decide on the trimmer guard that suits your needs.Comb through your beard in its natural growth direction. Ready Your Beard: Before diving in, set the stage.Using Guide Combs EffectivelyĪlright, let’s dive deep into mastering the art of using a trimmer guard for that majestic facial mane of yours. To achieve the best results, always trim your beard in the direction of its growth. If you want a short, subtle shadow, keep the length to less than 2 mm.īut If you’re looking for a fashionable mid-length beard, try 2-3 mm (1 guard) and if you want a bit heavier stubble, give 4-5 mm a shot (2 guard). This video explains the sizes and shows how much hair each guard leaves. Now you know which trimmer guard best matches your clippers. 1mm trimmer guard = ½ guard or 0 guard for hair clippers.3mm trimmer guard = #1 clipper guard (3mm). 7mm trimmer guard = #2 clipper guard (6mm).9mm trimmer guard = #3 clipper guard (10mm).12mm trimmer guard = #4 clipper guard (13mm).16mm beard trimmer guard = #5 guard on a hair clipper (16mm).Then when you go down to a 1mm trimmer guard it’s the Same as a ½ guard or 0 guard for hair clippers which is also the same as the (lever open).A 3mm trimmer guard length is exactly the same length as a #1 clipper guard on hair clippers which too is 3mm.5mm trimmer guard length would be close to the #2 clipper guard again.A 7mm trimmer guard length would be closest to a #2 clipper guard which is actually 6mm.9mm trimmer guard length is closest to a #3 clipper guard on clippers which is 10mm.12 mm trimmer guard length is closest to a #4 clipper guard which is actually 13mm.So let’s say you had a 16mm beard timmer guard, that’s the same length as a #5 guard on a hair clipper which also cuts to 16mm (perfectly balanced) but below, I’ll show you the closest guards to these lengths if you’re transitioning from one tool to the other. It varies… especially with beard trimmers.Ĭlipper guards from brands such as Wahl or Andis rarely will ever be this specific. While the wahl lithium ion goes from 3mm up to 12. Green Velvet, an underground legend cured to perfection by the 90s rave scene, brings his unflappable brand of pulsating techno to this 2014 dance hit. The “Summertime Sadness” remix became Del Rey’s first (and to date, stilly only) single to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, simultaneously raising her profile, and earning Gervais a Grammy win for best remixed recording, non-classical. With Gervais’ touch, it became the unavoidable anthem of the year. It might be hard to remember a time when Lana Del Rey wasn’t considered one of the generation’s most beloved singer-songwriters, but her first taste of international pop success was largely credited not to her own work. That came thanks to the high-octane 2013 remix of Born to Die ballad “Summertime Sadness” - from Cedric Gervais, the French DJ and producer who had just experienced relative success with his rave anthem “Molly.” In a 2013 interview, Gervais explained that while bigger name artists began had thus begun seeking remixes from him, it was Del Rey’s voice that interested him most, and captivated by the track’s romantic vocals, he produced the remix in a single day. Lana Del Rey, “ Summertime Sadness” (Cedric Gervais Remix) (2013) Five years later, its build-up, undulating low end tones and face-slapping drop - punctuated by a chorus consisting solely of “okay” - is still heard at least once at any given American music festival. Five years later and it’s not unusual to hear those on the dancefloor attempting to sing along to the melody or ask, “What’s that one song that goes ‘ dugga dugga dugga dugga dugga dugga dugga doom…doom-doom?’” Those in the know always knows the answer. One of the most unforgettable basslines of the decade, Shiba San’s “Okay” rumbled through the dance world upon its 2014, helping establish the signature quirky, bouncy, bass-y Dirtybird sound. The drops might not have been able to compete with Skrillex bass bombs at EDC, but the tension that builds up with each revving of the bass makes the title hook a surprisingly satisfying shout-along. ANDREW UNTERBERGERįools Gold DJ duo Oliver’s 2014 electro-house banger sounds like how you might’ve imagined Daft Punk’s Tron: Legacy score if it had been pitched a half-decade earlier ’80s nostalgia with a gleefully cyber-dystopic edge. With mainstream dance music sounding as thick and aggro as it had been in decades, Brooklyn DJ Chris Malinchak owned the summer of 2013 - overseas, anyway - with the subtle and impossibly sweet floor-filler “So Good to Me.” Built around a warm synth blanket and brilliantly deployed vocal samples from the classic Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell duet “If This World Were Mine,” the song is as sublime as any originally composed love song of the ’10s, with a pulsing beat you can actually feel the blood pumping through. Read our list below, and find a Spotify playlist of all 60 at the bottom.Ħ0. Here, Billboard Dance presents the 60 dance tracks that most defined the decade. With the spectrum of the genre thus continuously widening, the scene’s countless artists, parties, festivals, labels, songs and genres could sometimes seem disparate, but altogether these pieces added up to nothing less than a dance dance revolution that generated excitement, money, power struggles, controversy, joy and which ultimately - and most importantly - made millions of us dance our asses off. Billboard's 100 Songs That Defined the Decade An unknown amount of time passed as the god of Nature worked. Nature then created the laws of nature, the plants and animals, and 'set' the earth, mountains, rivers, etc. The egg then hatched, and the god of Nature was born. Next, the yolk of the egg flowed out to the east, creating the Desert and bringing heat and fire to the world. The white of the egg flowed out to the west, forming the Snowy Wasteland, along with the earth and the mountains. This egg then bled for 7 days and nights, and from this life and death were formed. The first egg fell out of the nest the three eggs were lain in, and cracked. The midsummer's loon (possibly some sort of creator bird) laid three eggs.
